5 Minutes with Brigitte Saunders

We were lucky enough to be able to sit down with Brigitte Saunders after she created this months killer workout (click here if you want your bum kicked) where she very kindly shared a closer insight into her incredible training method. How important is it for you to move your body everyday and why?

I LOVE this question, I'll keep my answer simple because otherwise it'll become an essay (super passionate topic). A huge majority of the population are leading a sedentary life… sitting at a desk, driving in a car, sitting on the couch… the list goes on. We are designed to MOVE! Why it's important is very simple, if you're not using something in a way it's designed too… eventually it's going to start to fail on you, there's no sugarcoating it… movement is so important for your body to be healthy and functional in everyday life. Look at what small changes you can make in your sedentary ways that can lead to more movement more mobility and lead to better health.


What do you recommend for your clients post workout

Post workout I generally get my clients to go through a cool down and stretch sequence, I always suggest they do some foam rolling release work afterwards. I recommend my clients to stay hydrated as they usually lose a lot of fluids in the session. I also recommend that they eat something to restore their energy stores, preferably a source of carbohydrate and protein. Going a little further I always recommend a good night sleep to give your body ample time to recover.


If you could describe your training style in one sentence- what would it be?

If you have a busy day and only have 20 minutes to train - what do you do?

I do a good 10-2 sequence! Choose 5 exercises, do 10 reps of each, 9 reps of each 8 etc…

For example the other day I did:

10-2 squat jumps

10-2 push ups

10-2 burpees

10-2 Jackknife crunches

10-2 jumping knee tucks

These are ALL body weight exercises you can do anywhere, no excuses ;)


If you could choose one food to live off for the rest of your life - what would it be?

If you knew how much I LOVED food you would understand how HARD this is for me to answer haha, I though about this long and hard… I had to choose something I already had everyday because that would make sense, yeah? I'm going to go with THE BANANA. It's my go to snack, I always have bananas in the house, they leave me feeling fuller and give me a kick of energy AND they taste DELICIOUS.
